Win a NYC Apartment

New York Dreaming

For most of us owning a home in the big apple is a dream that will most likely never become a reality. Famously one of the world’s most expensive real estate markets, even the tiniest apartment is well beyond the means of most. If you’ve ever aspired to be a New York City local then you must check out the latest giveaway from HGTV – a furnished apartment located in the heart of the Financial District with sweeping views of the NYC skyline. HGTV has partnered with The Residences at W in the $$1.5 million giveaway that includes an Acura ZDX.

Custom-designed by popular HGTV designer Vern Yip, the living room is a celebration of city life in muted tones with an eclectic collection of unique accessories and art pieces. As with most homes in NYC the use of space often needs to fulfill multiple functions so the kitchen can accommodate the usual meal preparation but also accommodates a home office. A welcoming entrance and bedroom retreat complete the apartment.

If you want to get a first hand look at the apartment watch the HGTV Urban Oasis 2010 special on Monday, September 6, 2010, at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. The website opened today for entries and until October 20 you can enter twice per day, once at HGTV.com and once at HGTV’s FrontDoor.com.

If you’re lucky you just may be able to live in NYC or at the very least have a big apple getaway whenever you feel like it.

Survival Guide For The Single Guy – #1 Reliable Maid!

Posted by Candice on April 15, 2009 at 00:38 am

House Cleaning As A Dating Strategy

House Cleaning As A Dating Strategy

It’s your third date, you’ve impressed her with your sharp outfits, nice clean car and sparkling conversation and now it it time to invite her back to your place.   Is your house, apartment or condo in a fit state for female company or is it a obstacle course of dirty laundy, empty pizza boxes and beer bottles?   Even if you’re not a complete slob chances are you haven’t kept up with the house cleaning because you’re working 60 hour weeks or just can’t tear yourself away from Grand Theft Auto.

So, what’s the solution?  Every single guy should have a reliable maid service on speed dial … or these days, a few clicks away.  It is really easy to find and schedule house cleaning services online so just bookmark Bidmycleaning.com and the next time you know you’ll be inviting a lady home, have the maids come in and do a clean sweep.  Make sure the trash has been taken out and there isn’t a layer of dust on everything.  If she uses the bathroom make sure the countertops don’t have a thick film of crusty residue which will gross her out for sure.

Posted by Candice on April 1, 2009 at 12:10 pm

Today, 1st April 2009, aside from being April Fools Day, is also the day that Jason of iwearyourshirt fame is wearing a Bidmycleaning.com shirt.   Jason had a really interesting idea to sell the top half of his wardrobe to companies or other interested parties!  You could get your logo and message displayed on Jason’s chest and/or back and see it in pictures, videos and a daily live stream!  Watching Jason’s daily shirt has been lots of fun and we are very happy our day has arrived!

Check out the action at Jason’s blog – http://iwearyourshirt.com/blog/2009/04/01/i-will-clean-your-house-on-behalf-of-bidmycleaningcom/.  Jason started the morning off by announcing a competition to win Jason himself to clean your house for you, with a fun pic of him holding a duster and some wipes.  All you need to do to win is leave a comment on his blog post.

Ready for some house cleaning!

Ready for some house cleaning!

Jason scheduled some maid service to experience for himself how quick and easy it is to get instant bids and book an appointment on the real-time calendar at Bidmycleaning.com so this morning he could relax and watch some TV while a Bidmycleaning.com service provider, Alley Cat Cleaning, cleaned his home.  His home was good and clean by the time the film crew from PBS arrived to interview him.

Watch later today at 3pm EST when Jason does his live stream show wearing the ‘Bidmycleaning.com – The new simple way to find and schedule cleaning services’ shirt.

If you like the idea and want to buy a day on Jason’s calendar, days are sold at “face value” so January 1 is $1 and December 31 is $365. You can also follow Jason on twitter – http://twitter.com/iwearyourshirt

Need a pick-me-up? Try Roomba!

Posted by Candice on January 9, 2009 at 01:27 am

So even with a regular maid service you probably find that your floors still need some attention between cleanings.  With a almost-three-year-old toddler in the house we always have snack crumbs around and she brings quite a bit of the sandpit home in her shoes each day.  Our wood floors also just get really dusty.

Last Christmas I was given the Roomba as a gift and now a year later I can honestly say it is perfect to keep your floors dust and kid-debris free!  We typically start the Roomba when we leave the house and come home to lovely clean floors.  There are two virtual walls that come with the Roomba so you can contain him in the rooms of your house you want cleaned.

So there are these web awards called the Crunchies … I know it’s an odd name but I guess it comes from TechCrunch being one of the sponsors.   This is the second year that TechCrunch along with co-hosts GigaOm, VentureBeat and Silicon Alley Insider are running the competition and award ceremony to recognize and celebrate the most compelling startups, internet and technology innovations of the year. Best of all, the internet community is invited to choose who wins.

Black Friday & Cyber Monday – Are You In?

Posted by Candice on November 25, 2008 at 17:12 pm

Hmmm I can almost smell the delicious aromas of roast turkey, smoked ham, buttery dinner rolls, full-bodied wines. Dont ya just love this time of year! Once the Thanksgiving dinner is over and we’ve acknowledged all that we have to be thankful for our thoughts turn naturally to … SHOPPING!

Yep, that’s right – two of the biggest shopping days of the year BLACK FRIDAY and CYBER MONDAY are just around the corner. For those who don’t know, Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. One of the biggest shopping days, it kicks off the holiday shopping season. Rumor has it that it is called Black Friday because retailers saw it as the day their books went from being in the red to being in the black.

Where Black Friday is associated with traditional brick-and-mortar stores, “Cyber Monday” symbolizes a busy day for online retailers. Cyber Monday refers to the Monday immediately following Black Friday, the ceremonial kick-off of the holiday online shopping season in the United States between Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. The premise was that consumers would return to their offices after the Black Friday weekend, making purchases online that they were not able to make in stores. Although that idea has not survived the test of time, Cyber Monday has evolved into a significant marketing event [Wikipedia]. The term is credited to Shop.org who have their ‘official’ Cyber Monday website – http://www.cybermonday.com

Whether you’re going old school and heading out to brave the crowds at the mall or shopping from the comfort of your latop or home PC, there are deals to be had and coupons to be clipped.  Don’t miss our deal and some of our favorites!
