Healthy Home, Healthy World, Healthy Child
WebMD, the leader in online health information, is partnering with Healthy Child Healthy World, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of children from harmful environmental exposures, to bring you the Health eHome. This is an interactive website with a virtual home tour that highlights the potential dangers and hazards in the home and also offers tips and information about healthy, safe, green living.
The goal is to provide you with practical, affordable suggestions for making your home safer and empowering you with the knowledge and tools to make informed and responsible choices. You just click through the rooms of the home and there are yellow dots highlighting where more information is available.
You can take the Health eHome Check where you complete a quick survey about who you are and who lives in and visits your home. As you go through the survey there are accompanying videos providing you with information like the fact that the average American uses an average of 9 personal care products with as many as 126 different unique chemicals in them and little factoids like “as many as 25% of U.S. homes with children under six have a lead-based paint hazard” .

Spring Cleaning with Bidmycleaning.com
I wonder if it’s just a coincidence that National Cleaning Week arrives a couple of days after the first official day of Spring and the tradition of spring cleaning.
Maybe National Cleaning week is really dedicated to cleaning up all areas of your life and not just your home. Here’s our top 10 cleaning tasks to tackle during National Cleaning Week:
- Clean up your diet: Eliminate all the junk food, take outs and sugary and caffeinated beverages.
- Clean up your computer: How many of us take the time to perform all the recommended system maintenance on our pc’s or laptops. How often do you run the disk defragmenter or complete a disk cleanup to get rid of all the temporary files that build up from surfing the web, downloading email etc.

Welcoming a new baby to the house brings so much joy and excitement but it also brings sleepless nights and little time to anything else besides take care of the little one. But seriously, with a newborn in the house, who wants to do anything else besides cuddle and coo at the baby. Whether this is the first baby or the fourth a gift certificate for maid service, a supply of groceries or a meal delivery service will be appreciated. They will certainly last longer and be more helpful than a bouquet of flowers.
First time moms will need all the usual gifts like diapers, receiving blankets, onsies and diaper genies but for a mom having her third or fourth baby she probably already has all the essentials besides a few new outfits.

For Sale
For realtors, home staging is essentially just merchandising their product for sale. Buying a home is an emotional decision and effective staging can help to evoke the required emotions in the buyer. It’s all about making the house feel like a home and yet making it aspirational in a sense ie. it’s a step above the home they currently live in. People generally move to trade up not to to move sideways. Good staging will increase the likelihood that potential buyers will feel an emotional connection to the home.
Does house cleaning play a role in effective staging? Sure it does! Many realtors rank house cleaning at the top of their must-do list when preparing for potential clients.

Water is precious!
If you live in Southern California like me you know it’s been raining quite a bit – so I received quite a wake up call along with our recent water bill. The envelope included a series of pictures of a local lake, first a few years ago as a pretty substantial body of water, then a sliver of water more like a river than a lake and now in 2009 it is gone! Yes, even with all the rain our lakes are disappearing! It really is time to clean up our act and put our house in order when it comes to water conservation!
There is much talk about the oil and how it is a dwindling resource and how much of the fighting in the world is caused by it but really it isn’t a necessity. However, we cannot live without water so imagine what will happen when the water starts running out! We really do need to focus on ways in which we can conserve water on a daily basis and fortunately there are many quick and easy ways we can start to do this:

Today is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, and there’s a whole lot of talking and educating happening all over the country in honor. The Red Pump Project was born out of the two founders’ Luvvie and Karyn’s desire to make a difference and ask others to do the same. The Red Pump Project will be an ongoing effort and a resource for information about HIV/AIDS and its effect on women. So subscribe to the page so you can continue to get information on the happenings.
Of all new AIDS diagnoses 27% are women. One of the main purposes of National Women/Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is to encourage women to take a proactive approach in their sexual health. One of the biggest ways that you can do so is to know your status. Nowadays, many health organizations offer HIV/AIDS testing at little to no cost to individuals, and some places even offer rapid and/or needle-free testing. If you don’t know where your nearest testing center is, you can always visit HIVTest.org.
National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is an opportunity for everyone to lend their support to those who are currently struggling with the disease and also to raise awareness of methods of prevention and detection. Several groups are organizing events.

Can I afford to hire a maid?
The myth of the superwoman is just that–a myth. Not only is it impossible to be all things to all people at all times, it is a downright damaging idea.
Why is it that we can be the busiest business owners, most efficient employees, or most patient parents, and still feel the need to be the happy, helpful house cleaner? We buy pre-prepared foods, hire childcare, and pay landscapers, so why hesitate to get a housekeeper?
Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I write up a list of all the things I do.
