Here in California we just sprung our clocks forward for Spring and are enjoying more light in the evening hours and beautiful blossoms on the trees. With Spring comes the opportunity to spend more time outdoors with warmer weather and more daylight so it’s likely that Spring Cleaning is not at the top of your To Do List. So, is spring cleaning something you should be doing or is it not really necessary?

Spring Cleaning Season
Nowadays, many of the conditions in the home that necessitated spring cleaning don’t exist anymore. We no longer burn coal to keep warm or cook and we don’t use kerosene lamps to provide light so there is no sooty build up resulting from these old time methods. Back in the day when spring arrived home owners would have to wash all their walls, floors, surfaces and every item in the house that became covered in a sooty residue over the winter months.
So, while it may no longer be necessary to do such a huge overhaul at the end of winter it is important to give your home a thorough cleaning once or twice a year. Doing a deep cleaning makes sure to get to those areas that are missed during regular maintenance cleanings or that only need to be done seasonally. Some of these are washing windows, cleaning your stove and refrigerator, cleaning of ceiling fans, curtains and blinds. Other areas that may not be cleaned as often are under area rugs and sofas and behind appliances and furniture such as shelves and buffets.
Now that we’ve established that deep cleaning now and then is necessary, is Spring really the best time to do it? Given that Spring precedes the Summer months when you are likely to spend more time outdoors and will likely be at the beach of hiking or some other fun activity, there is more likelihood that you will be tracking sand and dirt in. Also, when the weather is nice wouldn’t you rather be out spending time on leisure activities with your family than inside doing the house cleaning?
If this time of the year feels like a good time to clean for you but you don’t have the time or don’t want to do it yourself why not hire a maid service to do the deep cleaning for you and then just maintain it yourself. If you’d like to know the price for a deep cleaning you can get instant bids at Bidmycleaning.com from local cleaning companies and independent cleaners then schedule online.
So go outside, play, have fun and get into the swing of Spring!

Eco-Friendly Move Clean Up
We all have one eventually – moving day! Whether it is moving out of your parents home to your first apartment or taking the big step of first time home ownership moving day is usually a time for great excitement and lots of work. One of the big jobs associated with moving in or out is the clean up that goes with it. When you move out of a home you tend to ‘spring clean’ and get rid unnecessary ‘stuff’ and when you move into a home you will have a lot of used packing materials once you’re done unpacking. So how do you make sure that your moving day is eco-friendly.
