House Cleaning Help

House Cleaning Help

There are many people who resist getting a maid citing reasons like, it’s not in my culture to have someone clean for me or I don’t want a stranger in my home.  Some are worried about being able to communicate with a maid while others feel like a maid would not clean as well as they could themselves or that they’d feel obliged to help.  All of these are valid.  Are there reasons to hire a maid that might sway folks like this?

When it comes to house cleaning, it can be very time consuming and exhausting. Hiring a maid service to take care of the cleaning can leave you with more time, energy and inspiration to do other things like cook. You’d have time to try a new recipe or bake some goodies for your family. When it comes to family we’ve written before about how having a housekeeper can free up more time for family All of these are great reasons why you’ll be glad you hired a maid.

While some may think that a maid will not clean as well as they would themselves, the opposite is often true. Maids spend a lot of time cleaning and in doing so have often learned the best techniques for cleaning and will leave your home cleaner than it has ever been. Since you have so many other things to do it is also likely you may cut corners where a good cleaning service takes pride in their attention to detail and quality of service. Another great reason to hire a maid.

If you don’t enjoy cleaning and have to give up your nights and weekends to clean then hiring a maid will definitely improve your mood. You’ll feel much better on a Monday morning when you haven’t spent your Saturday or Sunday scrubbing toilets and cleaning countertops. Yet another reason you’ll be glad you hired some housekeeping help.

Clean House Helps Reading Skills

Clean House Helps Reading Skills

Research conducted by the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF) found a link between household chaos and children’s early reading skills. Household order was found to have a positive correlation with early reading skills and may include cleanliness, organization, routines. The research document references an earlier study by Dunifon et al. (2001) which found that adults’ education and income were predicted by the cleanliness of their parents’ home even accounting for parents’ schooling, income, and cognitive skills. This clean-house measure reflected a desire and ability to impose order in the household, which may reflect organization in other aspects of life such as work and parenting. The report posits that perhaps household order taps a more fundamental characteristic of parents or households, such as maternal industriousness, planning ability, or conscientiousness, that gives rise to both orderliness and better reading skills in children.

Female Executives Face Too Many Demands

The Corporate Ladder and House Cleaning Too

The Corporate Ladder and House Cleaning Too

The work day begins at home with getting the kids up and ready for school, preparing breakfast and lunches – all before heading into the office for a full day. Most female executives are likely to work beyond 5pm and then when they do get home there is dinner to be prepared, laundry to do, house cleaning to fit in somehow. And that’s in between supervising homework, getting the children bathed and into bed. This is easily another three to four hours of work after the workday.

The Myth of the Superwoman

Can I afford to hire a maid?

The myth of the superwoman is just that–a myth. Not only is it impossible to be all things to all people at all times, it is a downright damaging idea.

Why is it that we can be the busiest business owners, most efficient employees, or most patient parents, and still feel the need to be the happy, helpful house cleaner? We buy pre-prepared foods, hire childcare, and pay landscapers, so why hesitate to get a housekeeper?

Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I write up a list of all the things I do.

Husbands Create 7 Hours Extra Housework

A new study from the University of Michigan shows that having a husband creates an extra seven hours of extra housework a week for women. But a wife saves her husband from an hour of chores around the house each week.

Marriage Means Extra House Cleaning

“It’s a well-known pattern. There’s still a significant reallocation of labor that occurs at marriage — men tend to work more outside the home, while women take on more of the household labor,” said Frank Stafford, of the university’s Institute for Social Research (ISR), who directed the study. For men, it’s the opposite – a wife saves her husband about an hour of housework a week, the study says.
